‘Equipped to Serve’ is a motto that is well suited for Stephen Sandstrom.
He has both a degree from BYU in Political Science, and a degree in Architecture from Arizona State.
Early in his life, Stephen Sandstrom was taught by his parents about America’s virtues, and he embeds them into his own life.
During dinner, his family would talk about politics, and the issues of the day; everyone was able to speak their opinions.

At the age of 14, he earned his Eagle Scout by addressing fellow scouts at state and regional events about the importance of the Constitution, and his love for America.
The guest speaker, Robinson Risner, who was a retired airfare brigadier general who had been a Prisoner of War in Vietnam for 7 years, mentioned in his speech that he thought Stephen was a young Abraham Lincoln.
On Stephen’s 17 birthday he received his pilot’s license, and at 19 he served an LDS mission in Venezuela.
In 1988, Stephen Sandstrom joined the U.S. Marine Corps. where he became an officer.
Following his military service, he became a successful airline pilot.
After his father’s stroke, Steve Sandstrom walked away from aviation to help run his family’s business. “Sandstrom Arcitecture” has since grown to become one of the largest, most successful firms in Utah.
From 1994-2006, Representative Sandstrom served in Utah on the Orem City Counsel.
While serving there, he voted ‘no’ for a proposed franchise tax increase, which would have been costly to Orem residents.
He was also the only councilman to vote ‘no’ on an unneeded cell phone tax.
And he insisted that Orem citizens be given the right to vote on all bond measures.
Today, Stephen Sandstrom is one of the most effective lawmakers on Capital Hill.
The values he was taught as a young boy have helped him be an effective representative.
Representative Sandstrom is not, and will never be a single-issue legislator.
He is a gifted leader whose convictions are founded on principle. He understands that government intrusions can be burdensome to citizens.
Representative Sanstrom believes that we can help restore America and return to its constitutional foundation by state sovereignty.
Stephen Sandstrom co-founded the Patrick Henry Caucus in 2009. The Patrick Henry Caucus is a contingent of state legislators contending an over-reaching federal government, and Barak Obama’s progressive agenda.

Representative Sandstrom protected our children by passing House Bill 103. He was the only state representative that responded to the PTA’s plea of reduced speed zones that signalized cross-walks.

Stephen Sandstrom passed the House Bill 287 which protects students from inappropriate relations outside of the classroom.
In 2009, Sanstrom sponsored House Bill 81, the Healthcare Patient Protection Act, which protects a patients medical records from identity theft by having them show the medical professionals their ID.
In 2007, Stephen ran legislation that closed a loophole in state law, which had opened the door for Indian Casinos.
House Bill 104 prevents bars and taverns from having casino nights, and other gambling activities. It also closed down Bingo Parlors that operated under the loophole.
Sandstrom took charge, making Utah one of only 2 states that outlaws all forms of gambling.
Stephen is an avid mountain climber and adventurer.
Stephen helped pass House Bill 117, which protects the home of indigenous trout so they can forever remain abundant in Utah.
Sandstrom finds his greatest enjoyment with family.
